NEW YORK, N.Y., - June 23, 2009 -- Paula M. Shugart, President of the Miss Universe Organization, announced today that Billy Bush, co-anchor of “Access Hollywood” and Claudia Jordan of “Celebrity Apprentice” and “Deal or No Deal,” will host the 2009 Miss Universe Pageant live on NBC on Sunday, August 23rd at 9:00 p.m. ET from Atlantis, Paradise Island in the Bahamas.Billy Bush has been the co-anchor of the daily entertainment newsmagazine sensation “Access Hollywood” since 2004 and has worked as a correspondent on the program since 2001. Bush is also host of the nationally syndicated radio program "The Billy Bush Show." Bush is no stranger to the Miss Universe Organization, having hosted the most recent Miss USA competition in April. Miss Universe Australia winner Rachael Finch is reportedly facing the sack after complaints she made about her contract with the pageant organisation

Media reports about a leaked letter sent by Ms Finch to Miss Universe's American arm could create grounds for her to be stripped of her crown, The Sunday Mail newspaper reports.

"Under the (Miss Universe Australia) contract, bringing the brand into disrepute is grounds for instant dismissal," the newspaper quotes an unnamed Miss Universe source as saying.

In the letter, the 20-year-old Sydney beauty claims she was rushed into signing a three-year exclusive contract by Miss Universe Australia, adding that it had become like a "prison sentence". read more

Carrie Prejean Stripped Of Miss California Title

"The Miss California USA Organization, in conjunction with the Miss Universe Organization and with the blessing of its owner, Mr. Donald J. Trump, announced today the termination of Carrie Prejean as Miss California USA 2009, citing continued breach of contract issues," the Miss California Organization said in a statement to Access Hollywood.

The group kicked the controversial beauty queen from her post due to "contract violations including Ms. Prejean's unwillingness to make appearances on behalf of the Miss California USA organization," the pageant's Executive Director, Keith Lewis, said in a statement.

Last month, Trump decided that Prejean would be allowed to keep her crown despite racy photos of the 22-year-old surfacing on the Internet. But Lewis claims that in the weeks that followed, the beauty queen did not step up to the plate.
