A UK-based beauty won the 2009 Miss Uganda beauty pageant at the Imperial Royale Hotel. Maria Namiiro, 21, will represent Uganda at the 2009 Miss World contest in Johannesburg this December. Joan Atieno was the 1st Princess, while Caroline Nantumbwe placed as the 2nd Princess. Performance Production, organiser of Miss Uganda-UK, took over the Miss Uganda franchise this year.
In the same event Mister Uganda 2009 was selected and the winner is Brian Lukiya and will represent his country in Mister World 2010 in Seoul, Korea.
